The Southern University Laboratory School Choir recently achieved an extraordinary feat at the LMEA Festival. Under the expert guidance of Mr. Ernest Williams, the choir participated in the Concert Performance category and emerged with an Overall Superior Rating.
2024 Beautillion
Sponsored and created by the Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated ~ Baton Rouge Chapter, the goal of La Rouge Beautillion is to create future leaders by promoting academic excellence and outstanding character. Additionally, program initiatives emphasize the importance of community service. Participants in the Beautillion will embrace an active role in member workshops and events, volunteer and philanthropic work, and build lasting relationships with their Beautillion cohort (rising juniors and seniors in high school).

The 19th Judicial District Courthouse, where they had the unique opportunity to witness a mock sentencing hearing firsthand.

Remix the Get Gordon Jingle Workshop
Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, in collaboration with LSU, is hosting a one-day workshop competition to remix the "Get Gordon" jingle - and we'd love for your students to be a part of it! This event is a perfect fit for students interested in music, technology, or both, providing a fun, educational experience outside the classroom. It's a great way to introduce them to potential career paths in these fields, and the winner of the competition will win $500!

ACT Information
Prepare for success with the upcoming Pre-ACT assessment, offering valuable insights into academic readiness for higher education. Scheduled for March 13, 2024, at 8:30 AM, this test is designed for 8th-grade students, providing personalized score reports and a predictive ACT composite score. Registration costs $16.00 and can be completed online or at the front office. Additionally, all ninth-grade students will take the ACT on the same day, March 13, 2024, alongside higher-grade students, amplifying their college admissions opportunities. Middle & High School Programs: February 24
At Southern University Laboratory School (SULS), February brings exciting initiatives. Our students are deeply engaged with the Zearn math program, which has shown remarkable results in improving math proficiency through visual models and real-life examples. Parents, please ensure your child completes their weekly Zearn math homework, aiming for three on-grade level lessons per week to earn incentives. As we celebrate Black History Month, we've organized daily tributes to honor African American contributions, with Mrs. Sherrard leading the initiative. As the first open enrollment period for the 2024-2025 school year draws to a close on January 31, 2024, we want to remind you of important dates and details. Throughout February, applications will be screened, and selections will occur, with acceptance, denial, or waitlist notifications sent electronically from March 1st to March 8th. For those who missed the first enrollment period or wish to apply during the second period, it begins on March 15th, 2024. As we approach the winter season, we want to ensure that you are informed and prepared for any potential weather-related disruptions to our regular school schedule. We are excited to announce that we have experienced growth as we have maintained our “B” rating. As we approach Thanksgiving and the Winter break, we must stay focused and finish the semester strong. LDOE Releases SULS School Performance Score
We are thrilled to share with you the latest news from Southern University Laboratory School following the release of the official 2022-2023 school and district performance scores by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE). Dolores Spikes Honors College Information Session
The Dolores Margaret Richard Spikes Honors College at Southern University (the "Honors College") will host some of the "best and brightest" at a free informative session. This event should be of interest to high school seniors who meet the requirements for admission to the Honors College, which generally include a 3.3 GPA and a composite ACT score of 23 or higher or an equivalent SAT score (without writing).
