Southern University Laboratory School Jr. Beta Members Leave a Legacy of Service at MLK Fest 2024
Introduction:
In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of service and community upliftment, the Southern University Laboratory School Junior Beta Club members recently took part in a remarkable initiative at the Martin Luther King Fest 2024. Guided by the values of unity, equality, and compassion, these students dedicated their time to make a lasting impact on the Gus Young Area community.
The Project:
Led by the enthusiastic Mr. Cain from the English department and Mrs. Vargas from Social Studies, the Jr. Beta students undertook a meaningful project that aimed to enhance recreational spaces for local youth. In a gesture that combines the spirit of service and the joy of play, the students decided to paint a playground court in the Gus Young Area.
The Painting Process:
On the day of the fest, the Jr. Beta members, armed with paintbrushes, colors, and a shared commitment to community improvement, transformed the playground into a vibrant space for children to enjoy. Their creative energy and dedication were evident as they worked diligently under the guidance of Mr. Cain and Mrs. Vargas.
