SULS Uniform Ordering Fall 2025
As we gear up for the 2025-2026 school year, we are excited to announce the launch of our new uniform ordering process. Southern University Laboratory School, in collaboration with the PTO, has partnered with The Printing Source to streamline the uniform purchasing experience for our families. Starting this year, uniforms will be ordered online via the https://mytshirtquote.com/sulab/shop/home website.
Kitten Nation,
We are thrilled to unveil our updated uniform ordering system for Fall 2025. We are broadening our established collaboration with The Printing Source to exclusively offer SULS school uniform tops and accessories, including dress shirts, polo shirts, cardigans, jackets, and ties. The ordering platform is live and accepting uniform orders. Stay tuned for more information to follow shortly.
In previous years, the Kitten Store has efficiently handled our uniform orders. However, as our school grew, the volunteer-run Kitten Store reached capacity. Therefore, we have decided to transition our uniform ordering process to The Printing Source to better accommodate our expanding school community.
Uniforms will be ordered online via the https://www.mytshirtquote.com/sulab website. We believe that this partnership will continue to provide an efficient and convenient way for parents to purchase uniforms for their children.
We have attached a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet to this email to assist you with any questions regarding the uniform ordering process. Please take a moment to review it, and feel free to reach out if you need further clarification.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we continue to enhance the uniform purchasing experience for our school community.

Seat Deposits
Did you miss the seat deposit deadline for the 2025-2026 academic school year? We understand the busy schedules and various commitments that families often have, but I wanted to remind you of the importance of securing your child's seat in advance. If you missed the deadline, please complete the Intent to Return by Wednesday, April 23 to receive an invoice. The invoice must be paid by April 30 to reserve your seat for Fall 2025.
Our primary aim in implementing this process is to ensure that each returning student has their seat secured well in advance, allowing us to organize and plan effectively for the new academic year. This enables us to accurately assess enrollment numbers and allocate resources accordingly, while also giving returning students priority placement.
In line with our policies, Southern University Laboratory School reserves the right to fill your child’s seat with a newly accepted student. However, if you are still interested in having your child attend SULS, you will need to reapply by completing an application and submitting the necessary documentation. Please note that in this case, you will be placed on the waitlist alongside other prospective applicants, without priority for former students.
Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to to Mrs. Basia Flemming at Basia_Flemming@sulabschool.com. We are here to support you through this process.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we hope to continue our partnership in fostering your child's educational journey.
Making Waves in Water Safety: SULS Partners with YMCA for Year Two of Swim Lessons
Southern University Laboratory School is proud to continue its partnership with the YMCA of the Capital Area for the second year, offering free swim lessons and water safety education to students in grades K–8. This initiative empowers nearly 200 students with essential life skills, promotes physical activity, and supports our commitment to student well-being and community health.
At Southern University Laboratory School, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom—and sometimes, it even happens in the pool.
Now in our second year, we are proud to continue our partnership with the YMCA of the Capital Area to provide comprehensive swimming and water safety lessons for our Elementary and Middle School students. This collaborative effort reflects our unwavering commitment to student safety, health, and lifelong learning.
Through this program, nearly 200 students from Kindergarten through 8th grade will participate in structured, no-cost swim lessons during the school day. The goal is not just to teach students how to swim, but to empower them with the skills and confidence needed to stay safe around water—a vital life skill that can save lives.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the generosity of funders who share our passion for promoting equity in access to health and wellness resources. Because of their support, every child, regardless of background, can benefit from this life-enhancing opportunity.
More than just a PE activity, our swim program is a strategic investment in prevention, safety, and student development. We’re incredibly excited to see its continued impact—boosting student confidence, encouraging physical fitness, and reducing the risks associated with water-related accidents.
Stay tuned—schedules will be posted soon, and we can’t wait to see our Kittens making waves this season!

This exciting initiative kicks off with tennis lessons led by Miss Deang Baluck, a standout student-athlete on the Southern University Tennis Team. During Physical Education classes, Miss Baluck—alongside our very own Coach Chaney—will guide students through tennis basics, from learning how to hold a racket to developing hand-eye coordination and movement skills.
But that’s not all—students will also have the opportunity to visit and play on the Southern University Tennis Courts, gaining experience in a collegiate setting while being inspired by role models right from their own community.
This partnership reflects our commitment to providing diverse athletic experiences for our students, promoting physical activity, and encouraging them to explore new talents and interests.
We’re proud to collaborate with Southern University Athletics and can’t wait to watch our young Kittens grow and thrive on the court!

Kameron Tillage Receives Silver Congressional Award from Congressman Graves
Kameron Tillage, a senior at Southern University Laboratory School, was awarded the prestigious Silver Congressional Award by Congressman Garret Graves on October 1, 2024. This honor recognizes Kameron's dedication to personal development, leadership, and over 200 hours of community service, including meal distributions and initiatives for local senior homes. As Senior Class President and a member of Jack and Jill of America, Kameron has demonstrated remarkable leadership and academic achievement, maintaining a 3.5 GPA while balancing honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment courses. Congressman Graves praised Kameron for his commitment to making a difference in the community, highlighting his balanced approach to academics, extracurriculars, and service. Kameron views this award as motivation to continue his impactful work in Baton Rouge and beyond.
Baton Rouge, LA: October 1, 2024—Southern University Laboratory School senior Kameron Tillage is no stranger to success, but on October 1, 2024, he reached a new milestone in his journey. At a special ceremony, Congressman Garret Graves honored Kameron with the prestigious Silver Congressional Award, recognizing his outstanding commitment to personal development, volunteerism, and leadership.
It was a moment that felt like the culmination of years of hard work for the young leader, who has long been a standout in both his school and community. As Senior Class President and Secretary of the Student Government Association, Kameron has been a driving force at Southern University Laboratory School. He uses his platform to advocate for his peers and is active in meaningful projects. But his leadership doesn’t stop at the school gates. Kameron is also an active member of the Baton Rouge Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, where he served as Sergeant at Arms and Immediate Past Vice President. His dedication to the organization’s mission led him to win the Teen Regional Conference Art Photography Contest and 2nd place in the Regional Teen Conference Humorous Monologue, showcasing his artistic talent.
Academically, Kameron has taken on the challenge of a rigorous course load, maintaining a 3.5 GPA while balancing a schedule packed with honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and Dual Enrollment classes. He also lettered in varsity football. Yet, his service to the community truly sets him apart. Kameron has dedicated over 200 volunteer hours, participating in initiatives that include meal distributions to older people, organizing Valentine’s Day card deliveries, and participating in drives to support local senior homes.
“It’s not just about the award,” Kameron shared. “For me, it’s about giving back to others and knowing that the small things can make a big impact.” This philosophy has shaped Kameron’s approach to service, driving him to participate in and lead efforts that spread joy and comfort those in need.
His dedication paid off with the Silver Congressional Award, a prestigious honor given by the U.S. Congress to recognize civilian youth for their community service and personal growth achievements. During the award ceremony, Congressman Graves spoke about Kameron’s contributions, praising his ability to balance academics, extracurriculars, and service with passion and poise.
“Kameron represents the best of what our youth can achieve,” Congressman Graves said. “He’s a shining example of the impact young leaders can have when they commit to serving others and building stronger communities.”
For Kameron, the medal is just the beginning. “This award motivates me to do even more and keep finding ways to make a positive difference,” he said. And with his track record, there’s little doubt that he will continue making his mark in Baton Rouge and beyond.
