SULS Pre-K & Kindergarten Students Shine at Annual Mardi Gras Parade
Each year, Southern University Laboratory School hosts one of its most joyful traditions, our Pre-K and Kindergarten Mardi Gras Parade. This year’s celebration brought color, music, excitement, and family spirit to The Lab, creating a safe and supportive space for our youngest scholars to experience the magic of Mardi Gras.
Leading the parade were our proud Pre-K and Kindergarten students, many experiencing their very first parade as participants. Dressed in festive colors and beaming with anticipation, students pulled beautifully decorated wagons transformed into miniature parade floats. As they moved along the parade route, they tossed candy, beads, and trinkets to cheering classmates and families.
Adding to the excitement, the SULS Kitten Marching Band delivered an energetic performance that filled the campus with rhythm and school pride. The Dancing Dolls followed with spirited routines that captivated students and parents alike. Together, the band and dolls helped create an authentic Mardi Gras atmosphere, right here on campus.
Events like this are more than just fun; they reinforce our commitment to building positive school culture, strengthening family engagement, and ensuring safe, developmentally appropriate experiences for our students. At SULS, we believe learning extends beyond the classroom, and traditions like the Mardi Gras Parade help students build confidence, creativity, and community.
