High School

Southern University Laboratory School’s high school department fosters the journey for young adults in an ever-changing world through rigorous academics and rich cultural experiences. Our skilled staff plans lessons using a tier I curriculum that provokes critical and higher order thinking skills that are tailored to the individual needs of every student.  Students are given the opportunities to engage in learning through activities that involve research, investigation, collaboration, inquiry and discovery with an emphasis on technical writing skills.

Our teachers take a multifaceted approach that nurtures individuals, fosters a powerful teacher-student relationship, and enhances the facilitation of student-led success.  

Honors and Advanced Placement courses are available to provide a more challenging educational classroom experience, affording the student the advantage to earn college credit.  In addition, our students have the privilege of working  with college students through programs that enhance their academic endeavors through different partnerships with the university.
