Southern University School Counseling Department

A sincere thank you and appreciation to our students and the entire Lab Family for your participation during Red Ribbon Week! We were super excited to engage with our students during their lunch shift. We would also like to thank all of our parents and students who came out for our parent and student night meetings. Our meetings are held to keep you abreast of academic requirements and other pertinent information so that our students may receive the best academic experience possible. The School Counseling Department has been busy these last few months with student engagements and meaningful support services. Class rings were ordered during Herff Jones’ visit on October 8, 2025, and our seniors learned valuable information from LOSFA representatives on October 14. Southern University, Alcorn State University, LSU, and many more institutions visited our campus to recruit our students and share opportunities during our annual College and Career Readiness Day on October 28, 2025.

Academic counseling was in full effect throughout November. School counselors met with students individually, wrote letters of recommendation, assisted seniors with college applications, held parent meetings, and provided guidance to students who needed a little extra support along the way. Our Seniors and Juniors also had the wonderful opportunity to tour and enjoy lunch at Southern University A&M College.
