Southern University Laboratory School is excited to share a powerful opportunity for students interested in entrepreneurship, retail business, branding, or product design. The Business & Entrepreneurship Advancement Program (BEAP) – Retail Ready Course begins Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., and SULS students are encouraged to participate.

This FREE 8‑week hybrid program, offered in partnership with the Southern University College of Business, Winrock International, and the EDA University Center, is designed to help emerging entrepreneurs understand the retail industry, develop product concepts, and gain the confidence to present real business ideas.

Students may attend in person at the Southern University College of Business (Room 208) or join virtually via Zoom, making the program accessible for any schedule.

What Students Will Learn

Throughout the course, participants will receive hands‑on instruction from experienced entrepreneurs and business leaders. Week 1 kicks off with guest instructors Alphonso and Troy Bolden, along with Troy Chivers of Cajun Nation Seasoning Company, who will guide students through:

Retail business models
Market research and product positioning
Product packaging, UPC codes, and compliance
How to create shelf‑ready appeal
A hands‑on packaging redesign workshop

This is the type of real‑world learning that prepares students for business ownership, career pathways, and product development—all while building confidence and leadership skills.

Pitch Competition & Cash Prize

At the conclusion of the program, students will present their business ideas in a Pitch Competition, where the most polished and innovative pitch will earn a monetary award.
Students who attend consistently will be best prepared to compete and win.
