SULS SUMMER ENRICHMENT

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures:

All morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups will be done in the SULS middle school parking lot. Morning drop-off begins at 8:00 am and ends at 8:20 am. Any elementary student reporting after 8:25 must report directly to their classroom. Teachers will assist with opening doors to allow children to exit. Please follow the directions of the teachers on duty. Afternoon pick-up starts at 3:00 pm and ends at 3:30 pm. Any students remaining after 3:30 will be sent to aftercare for a fee. Afternoon pick-up will follow the same route as our morning drop-off. Teachers will assist in helping students into vehicles but will not buckle students into car seats. Please drive forward out of the pick-up line to park and buckle your child(ren).

Middle and High School students can only be picked up from Southern University Laboratory School.  Pickup is not allowed from STEM locations on or off campus.

Extended Day:

Arrival:

Our extended-day teacher, Ms. Pooler, is located in room 404. Students may begin arriving at the school at 7:30 a.m. Parents must walk their children to the classroom and sign the students in. At 8:00, students will be escorted to the gym to sit with their designated teachers/classes. Then, students will walk to the cafeteria with their class at the specified time.

Dismissal:

All students will be escorted to the dismissal area by their designated teacher. Students enrolled in extended-day will sit in a specified location in the shade. Elementary extended-day students will report to Ms. Pooler in her classroom for extended-day. Middle/High extended day will report with Mrs. Vargas to her classroom. Students participating in our extended-day option will need to bring an additional snack.

Students who remain after 3:30 p.m. will be escorted to the extended-day classroom. This will be considered a last-minute drop-in option and must be paid for on homeroom.com. The drop-in fee is $11.00.

The penalty for students who are not picked up by 5:00 will be charged $2.00 each minute. This is due upon arrival. After the 2nd offense, students will not be allowed to remain in extended day/aftercare, and no refunds will be given.

This year, we are offering a drop-in option for both before and aftercare.  This option must be pre-approved and pre-paid on homeroom.com 24 hours in advance. The fee for the drop-in option is $11.00.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO EXTENDED DAY AFTERCARE ON FRIDAYS. Any student remaining after 3:30 on Friday will be charged a $40 fee and will be dismissed from aftercare for the remainder of camp.

CaMp Expectations:

All campers are expected to behave respectfully, responsibly, and safely. Our goals are to provide an environment where all campers and camp staff can build lasting relationships and have fun learning through interactive lessons and activities. Please tell your camper to inform a camp staff member immediately if they feel threatened. Here are some criteria we expect campers to follow:

○ Using language that is socially appropriate and respectful

○ Respecting the property of the school, staff, and fellow campers

○ Acting in a cooperative manner and respectful of camp boundaries

○ Making efforts to contribute to lessons and activities

○ Cooperating and taking turns with other campers

Discipline Policy:

The SULS S.W.A.G. and Enrichment Camp intends to provide a safe environment for participants in our program. Therefore, participants will be removed if they continuously disrupt the program, create an unsafe condition, or disrespect camp staff or peers. No refund will be provided for students dismissed from camp due to negative behavior.

1ST WARNING: Camp staff will redirect the camper to more appropriate behavior.

2ND WARNING: If inappropriate behavior continues, the camper will be pulled aside for a constructive thinking opportunity (time-out) to refocus, get on task, and discuss alternative behaviors.

3RD WARNING: After three incident reports, disciplinary action is left at the staff's discretion; however, the child may be suspended.  A meeting will be arranged with the parent/guardian, staff member, and camp director to discuss the reinstatement conditions.
