Girls grades 2nd through 6th are welcome to sign up and participate in a Girl Scout year full of fun and creating awesome memories. Meet and Greet for the 2022 school year will be August 06, 2022. Elementary will start at 9:30 am followed by Middle/High School at 10:30 am. We will have brief introductions in the Joel Hawkins Gymnasium (SULS Gym). Parents who have registered (initiated tuition payment) will receive their child’s schedule followed by multiple tables introducing clubs and organizations.
Southern University Laboratory School will participate in free COVID testing again this year with the Safer, Smarter Schools Program. Please be advised that the Foundation Fellowship Award covers the cost of tuition only. The Foundation Fellowship Award recipients are expected to pay all fees. All fellowship awards will be awarded on a yearly basis and are not automatically renewed. Applicants must apply every year, and applications will not be accepted mid-year or mid-semester. The application period for the upcoming school year will begin on May 1, 2022, and close July 07, 2022.
We are excited to announce our 2022-2023 Summer Reading List for Pre-K through 12th grade. Summer reading is essential for students as it helps students maintain skills while school is out, and it also improves reading skills such as phonics, fluency, spelling, vocabulary,and comprehension. Research shows that children who participate in summer reading increase their motivation, confidence, and enjoyment.
Uniform Update. The deadline for 15% off coupon has been extended to July 15, 2022. Last day to place an ORDER ONLINE or DROP off uniforms and have them ready before the first day of school is Thursday, July 21. After July 21, orders will be filled as soon as possible. Gently used uniform items are being collected. bring cleaned items to the front office by July 25. We asked that all items are in wearable condition and cleaned prior to drop off.

On Friday, May 13, 2022, Southern University will host its Commencement Exercises in the Felton G. Clark Activity Center (Mini Dome). This event attracts large crowds; thus, increasing the amount of traffic on campus. In preparation for the traffic flow, SUPD Traffic Division will route cars that enter Harding Blvd directly into the F.G. Clark Activity Center Parking Lot, not allowing vehicles to exit on Swan Ave.
Spring Fest is Friday, April 29, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Students will be participating in fun-filled activities before we start LEAP/AP testing. Students will be able to wear jeans (no holes, no joggers) and/or school pants along with their spring fest t-shirts and/or SULS t-shirt. Tennis shoes are allowed. Slippers and/or crocs are not allowed.

Louisiana’s own, Kelsie Tillage, earned the honorable Gold Medal Congressional Award. This prestigious accolade, awarded by the US Congress, is the highest honor a youth civilian can achieve through the US Senate and House of Representatives. This program recognizes initiative, service, and achievement in youth ages 14-24.
Congratulations to Angelo Izzard Jr. He is the 2022 winner of the WAFB Warrick Dunn Award. This award is awarded to one of the top players in the State of Louisiana. “AJ” received Sportsline Player of the Week two times during the 2022 school year.

HBCU Scholarships were established to assist graduating seniors residing in East or West Baton Rouge and obtaining a college degree from Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical University.
The Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation is pleased to announce our 27th Annual Outstanding Volunteer program for 2022. Every high school in the Greater Baton Rouge area may select a member of the junior class who has given time and talent as a volunteer in school, religious organizations, and community activities.
