Elections 2022 Announcement
It’s Election Time!!! Any student who is interested in running for SGA must sign up and qualify by Thursday, April 14, 2022. To access the application, click here. If you have any questions, please contact Gaile White at gaile_white@sulabschool.com. Please note that all outstanding tuition balances must be paid prior to turning in packets.
Student Elections Registration Packet
Sign Up April 9 - April 11, 2022
Links will be posted in the SULS App, and the school's website.
***Qualifications and required forms will be posted in SULS App and website***
Must include - Due April 14 @ 5 pm
GPA Form: Ms. Franklin (crystal_franklin@sulabschool.com) will verify all GPA’s
Discipline Form: Coach Asberry (darrell_asberry@sulabschool.com) will verify student’s discipline record
Sign-up verification acknowledgement form- signed by both parent & student
Packets must be uploaded in SGA Elections 22 Google Classroom (click here for the link)
*If the packet is not received by April 14, 2022 by 5 pm, students will not be considered a candidate.*
Notifications
Notices will be sent out Friday, April 15, 2022 via email
Campaign Week Meeting - discuss the rules for election week (MANDATORY)
Monday, April 18 @ 6 pm
A copy of the notification letter will be given if needed.
*Parents and students must be present and agree that they understand the rules for Election Week to participate in campaign week. If they do not sign or attend this meeting the student will not be able to participate. *
Meet the Candidate videos and flyers must be sent to Mrs. Sherrard by April 23, 2022 @2 pm
Videos
SGA officers and Miss Southern High candidates are the only candidates who can send videos. All other candidates can do flyers/posters (class officers, class representatives, & court) All videos (1 min max) must be screened prior to posting (via google classroom). Please submit by April 23 to renita_sherrard@sulabschool.com.
Meet the Candidate videos will be posted, Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Official videos and flyers posted in the Google classroom will be posted by the SGA sponsor.
Voting Day
Friday, April 29, 2022
Results will be released at the end of the day.
Steps in the Election Process
The elections of SGA officers, Miss Southern High and her court (9th – 12th grade attendants) will take place during the Spring Semester.
State of SGA officers and qualifications:
(GPA’s are cumulative for ALL officers; GPA’s are determined at the end of the 1st Semester as certified by the student's official transcript)
President (senior 3.0 GPA)
Vice President (Senior or Junior, 3.0 GPA)
Corresponding Secretary (Any level, 3.0 GPA)
Recording Secretary (Any Level, 3.0 GPA)
Parliamentarian (Any level, 3.0 GPA)
Chaplain (Any level, 3.0 GPA)
In addition to the above qualifications, as defined here, those running for office must have a clear record regarding major disciplinary infractions that is outlined in the student handbook, be dependable and honest, have the ability to work with others, and perform well the duties required of the specific office.
Qualifications for Miss Southern High
Must be a senior with at least a 3.0 cumulative average certified by student transcript as of the current Fall semester.
Must have a clear record (grades 9 – 12) regarding major disciplinary infractions that is outlined in the student handbook the same year of the election
Must have charm, poise and grace
Must have been a student of the Lab School from 9th – 12th grade, uninterrupted. (Must be a student for the full school year, August to May)
Must agree to be guided by a faculty committee in the selection of attire and public appearances/speeches
Must not incur any disciplinary actions to maintain title. Otherwise, the title will be forfeited.
Must be current in all fees. (Class fee and registration)
Qualifications for 9th – 12th grade attendants (Miss Southern High Court)
Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA certified by student transcript as of the current Fall semester.
