Thank you for your interest in choosing Southern University Laboratory School for your child(ren)’s academic future. You can download an Application for Admissions here or pick up one from our main office at the school. Once you have completed the application, you must submit the application and application fee to the office by the deadline.

Below are the Requirements and Fees associated with attending Southern University Laboratory School.

Pre-Kindergarten applicants must have all necessary shots prior to attending class. Three-year-olds will only be accepted after all qualifying 4-year-olds have been accepted. Kindergarten applicants, who attended a Pre-Kindergarten / daycare program, must submit most recent report card and teacher recommendation (1 Teacher Recommendation needed).

Applicants who did not attend a Pre-Kindergarten program must complete and submit an application.

First – Fifth Grade (1st- 5th)

First – Fifth grade applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher in core subjects (Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies). Students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average for continuous enrollment at the Southern University Laboratory School.

Third-Fifth grade applicants must score at the basic level in ELA and MATH on state-mandated assessments in order to be considered for enrollment.

Copy of DIBELS results for students entering grades 1st – 3rd ONLY are needed to complete the application process.

A behavioral statement from prior school and two teacher recommendation forms must be provided for application consideration.


Sixth – Twelfth Grade (6th – 12th)

Sixth-Twelfth grade applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher in core subjects. Applicants must maintain a 2.5 grade point average for continuous enrollment at the Southern University Laboratory School.

Sixth through Eighth grade applicants must score at the basic level in ELA and MATH on state-mandated assessments in order to be considered for enrollment.

High school applicants must submit End of Course Exam (EOC) results. Applicants must score at least a Good on EOC Exams. A behavioral statement from prior school and two teacher recommendation forms must be provided for application consideration.

Tuition Refund Timeline

Once Tuition is Paid/Before Class Begins………………………………90%
