Academic Signing Day: The Class of 2026 Shows What’s Possible

Southern University Laboratory School proudly hosted Academic Signing Day, a milestone moment where the Class of 2026 boldly revealed their postsecondary intentions to the world.

This powerful celebration marked more than just announcements of what comes next—it represented purpose, preparation, and pride. As our seniors prepare to leave the comfortable and familiar hallways of Southern University Laboratory School, they did so with confidence, clarity, and the unmistakable mark of what it means to be part of The Lab.

Academic Signing Day serves as a signature moment for our school community. Much like our athletic signings, this event elevates academic achievement and honors the discipline, perseverance, and commitment required to reach this point. Our seniors stood tall as scholars—demonstrating that excellence at SULS is intentional and earned.

Equally important, this moment created a living lesson for our K–11th-grade students. Watching seniors articulate their goals and next steps allowed our younger Kittens to see what success looks like in real time. It reinforced the idea that every assignment, every conversation, every year at Southern University Laboratory School is building toward something greater.

The Class of 2026 leaves behind a legacy of leadership, scholarship, and integrity. They have taken full advantage of the opportunities offered at SULS, rigorous academics, student leadership experiences, and a culture that demands both excellence and accountability. Their academic signing moment reflects not only individual success, but the strength of a school community committed to developing the whole student.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to the SULS Counseling Department, Mrs. Lasonia Brown, and Ms. Shanta McCall, whose unwavering dedication ensured our seniors were prepared for this moment. Through countless planning sessions, encouragement, and personalized guidance, they have been champions for our students every step of the way.

We also recognize Kalen Williams, 10th grade, for beautifully capturing the energy and pride of Academic Signing Day. His photographs preserve a moment that will inspire future generations of Southern Lab Kittens.
