Free Summer Opportunity for SULS Students: UREC Academy Entrepreneurship, Technology & ACT Prep Institutes – Summer 2026
Southern University Laboratory School students are encouraged to take advantage of an exciting FREE summer enrichment opportunity on the campus of Southern University, sponsored by UREC Academy. From June 1 through July 15, 2026, high school students can participate in hands-on learning through the UREC Academy Entrepreneurship Institute and the Technology & ACT Prep Institute—two high-impact programs designed to strengthen college and career readiness.
This opportunity is open to both academies and welcomes motivated students interested in technology, entrepreneurship, leadership, and college preparation.
Entrepreneurship Institute
The UREC Academy Entrepreneurship Institute equips students with the tools needed to think like innovators and leaders. Participants will explore business development, creative problem-solving, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial thinking while engaging in collaborative, real-world projects. Students will gain exposure to strategies that help turn ideas into action—skills that are valuable across all academic and career pathways.

Technology & ACT Prep Institute
Students with an interest in technology, design, and college readiness are encouraged to apply for the UREC Academy Technology & ACT Prep Institute. This program offers hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and design thinking, while also providing structured ACT preparation to help students strengthen their college admissions profile.
Participants will build practical skills, collaborate with peers, and receive targeted academic support aimed at preparing them for postsecondary success.
Dates: June 1 – July 15, 2026
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (some weekends may be required)
Orientation: May 27, 2026
ACT Test Date: July 11, 2026
Cost: FREE
Eligibility Requirements:
Students must register for the July 11 ACT exam by June 5, 2026
Applicants will be invited to participate in an interview as part of the selection process
