RE: Health and Safety Precautionary Measures and Suspension of After-School Activities
Southern University Laboratory School is aware that a number of students have recently been absent due to illness. Out of an abundance of caution and as a proactive measure to protect the health and well-being of our entire school community, we are implementing the following precautionary measures today, Thursday, August 27, and tomorrow, Friday, August 28.
After-School Activities Suspended
All after-school activities are suspended for both days. This includes athletic practices, tutoring, clubs, meetings, and all other school-sponsored after-school activities.
Professional cleaning personnel will be on campus both afternoons to conduct a thorough deep cleaning and sanitization of the school. For the safety of everyone involved and to allow the cleaning process to be completed effectively:
All students must be picked up by 3:30 PM.
All faculty and staff will vacate the premises during the cleaning process.
There will be no after-school activities or supervision beyond 3:30 PM.
Parents and guardians should make the necessary arrangements to ensure that students are picked up promptly.
Student Illness
We are also asking families to assist us in limiting the spread of illness. If your child is sick or experiencing symptoms, please keep them home and monitor their symptoms.
Students must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to school. If your child is experiencing symptoms of illness, we strongly encourage you to have them evaluated by an appropriate healthcare provider, particularly if symptoms persist or worsen.
The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff remain a priority. We appreciate your cooperation, understanding, and partnership as we take these additional precautions.
