Closure in Anticipation of Marco and Laura

Out of abundance of caution, Southern University Laboratory School (SULS) facilities will remain closed through August 27.

August 23, 2020

Re: Southern University Laboratory School Weather Updates

Out of abundance of caution, Southern University Laboratory School (SULS) facilities will be closed August 24 through August 26. The SULS leadership team will work in conjunction with the Southern University System (SUS) and continue to monitor local and national weather broadcasts as it relates to storm systems Marco and Laura.

Updates for SULS students:

Virtual classroom schedules will not be followed on Monday through Wednesday to allow families and staff the opportunity to prepare for the potential impact of severe weather.  During this time, students may review previous work or additional review materials at their own pace and will not be penalized for the inability to participate. Students should continue to check their Google classrooms for review or enrichment assignments. Teachers are encouraged to provide enrichment activities for students to work on independently via district online-learning platforms.

Updates for SULS employees:

SULS faculty and staff will update their Google websites and provide resources relative to current learning.

We will actively track and monitor the development of Tropical Storm Laura and will release additional guidance no later than Wednesday evening.  Please stay tuned to local news outlets, the school app, sulabschool.org and our social media outlets for more information. As always, the safety of our students and faculty is our top priority. Thank you for being active participants in the LAB school experience.
