First Grade Explores the Wild Side at Global Wildlife!
At Southern University Laboratory School, we believe in making learning come alive—and our 1st grade students recently did just that with a wild adventure at Global Wildlife Center!
Led by the always-enthusiastic Mrs. Rollins, her class took a memorable excursion to the largest free-roaming wildlife preserve of its kind in the country. Nestled in Folsom, Louisiana, Global Wildlife is home to over 1,000 exotic and endangered animals from around the world including giraffes, zebras, kangaroos, and antelope.
Students had the chance to experience wildlife up close during a guided safari wagon tour, where they hand-fed animals and learned about habitats, behaviors, and conservation. The hands-on experience sparked curiosity and deepened their understanding of ecosystems, all while creating memories they won’t soon forget.
This enriching field trip was more than just a day outside the classroom—it was an opportunity to connect science, social studies, and environmental awareness with the wonders of the natural world.
Thank you, Mrs. Rollins, for leading this unforgettable learning journey. Thank you to the Global Wildlife Center for providing a safe and educational experience that truly brought learning to life!
