Junior: Ring/Pinning Ceremony
The annual Ring & Pinning Ceremony for our Juniors will be held on March 25, 2022, at 10:00 am. Students will receive their rings that were purchased from Herff Jones. If you have purchased a ring from another company, please bring your ring to Ms. Crystal Franklin on the morning of the ceremony.
We are asking that Junior students have a representative to pin them on the day of the ceremony. When your child’s name is called, the parent (guardian/representative) will pin the school’s pin onto the lapel of the student. This moment begins the Junior’s transition into their Senior year. Photos will be taken by Miles Photography.
Junior Dues
It’s that time of year. As we start getting back to normal, we would like to start the process of providing activities that are memorable for our students. As you start the process of exiting high school, Jr.’s and Sr.’s are asked to pay yearly fees. Junior fees cover the annual pinning/ring ceremony as well as prom.
Pinning & Ring Ceremony: March 25, 2022 @ 10:00 pm
Prom: April 09, 2021
The Junior fee is $125.00. Each student will be allowed one additional guest for prom (2 total). In order for us to order these items and make preparations in a timely fashion, we are asking that all junior fees ($125.00) be paid as soon as possible.
Junior Fees can be paid to Coach Q during lunch or before or after school. If you cannot reach Coach Q, it’s okay to leave your payment with Ms. Cupil in the front office. Fees can also be paid online by clicking the following link. https://sulabschool.com/new-products/class-of-2023-senior-fees-service-fee
Contact your Junior Sponsors (Coach Q, Ms. White, or Mr. Jones) if you have any questions.
Thank you for your support.

Parent Information
The PTO/Kitten Club is hosting a centennial fundraising campaign for Fall 2022 Teacher Innovation Grants. We are asking for donations in denominations of 2022 ($20.22, $202.22, etc.); no donation is too small. Each family will create a team on our fundraising page to share with others. Our goal is $8,880.
*****************************
Dear Parents,
We are excited to streamline our fundraiser by going online with 99Pledges. You will now be able to reach out to friends and family by email, Facebook, and Twitter, instead of going door-to-door, tracking commitments, and handling checks.
To add your child as a participant, please follow these 3 easy steps:
a. Go to this link - www.99pledges.com/fund/SULS2022/addme
b. Enter your child’s name and grade, enter your email(s).
c. Click “Add” > this will take you to your newly created pledge page!
All you have to do is make a donation for whatever amount you can, and share your child’s pledge page link with friends and family. We are shooting for 100% participation so no amount is too small.
Here is some sample sharing text: " NAME is participating in a fundraiser, and would love your support. If you'd like to donate, you can do so online at the following link: YOUR PLEDGE PAGE LINK Thanks for your support!"

Mock Trial
Congratulations to the students who participated in the Region III Mock Trial Competition hosted by the Baton Rouge Bar Association. Angel, Faith, Chloe, Quian, Fiona, and Kendrick represented Southern University Laboratory School on Friday, March 11, 2022. Kendrick qualified for Region III top attorney. This competition educates high school students about the law and legal system through a fun, hands-on experience. The student teams study a hypothetical case and prepare a case for both the plaintiff and defense, and then present their case before a judge and a mock jury of attorney performance judges at trial. Volunteer attorneys and teacher coaches prepare the students for their “day in court.” We would like to thank Professor Russell Jones for his hard work and commitment to preparing our students. Information regarding next years, case and team will be coming soon.
