Elementary Parking Lot
The Elementary Parking lot is finished, so parking can resume on Monday, March 07, 2022. Carpool procedures will resume as normal in the mornings as well as afternoon carpool. Parents will enter through gate #3 and proceed the normal route exiting through the back gate facing the football field.
We would like to thank SUPD: Traffic and Parking Division for providing assistance while we had to make adjustments to the front of the school. If you get a chance, please thank them for their support. We would also like to thank our parents for their understanding and patience throughout this process.
SULS Annual Pilgrimage
The entire student body along with alumni, staff, and SUBR personnel will participate in the Annual Founders’ Day Pilgrimage on Wednesday, March 09, 2022. This is the day we celebrate and pay homage to our beloved Founders. Students will march from SULS quietly moving through the campus of Southern University Baton Rouge and participating in a small ceremony at the Clark family grave sites on the Buff of Southern University Baton Rouge.
SUBR will hold its annual Founders’ Day Convocation Wednesday, March 23, 202s at the F. G. Clark Activity Center. Grades 6 through 12 will be participating.
Dress for Success Changes
Due to the Annual Southern University Founders’ Day Pilgrimage, students will not wear their normal dress for success clothing on Monday, March 07, 2022 and Monday, March 21, 2022. Students will wear their dress clothing on Wednesday, March 09, 2022 and on March 23, 2022 for the SUBR Founders’ Day Pilgrimage and Convocation. It is important that all students are dressed appropriately for this celebration on both days. If you need assistance as it relates to what to wear please click here.
ACT Testing
ACT testing will take place on March 16, 2022. 8th & 9th grade students will take the Pre-ACT while 10th & 11th grade students will take the ACT Online. This assessment will be administered at Southern University Laboratory School. Pre-coding will take place on Tuesday, March 08, 2022 during ELA classes. We will conduct a practice run at 7th period on March 15, 2022 to make sure students know where to report on test day.
PTO Meeting/Parent University
The PTO/Kitten Club welcomes parents and families to the next meeting Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include centennial, and end of year activities. There will be a Parent University immediately after on Spring testing.

Black History Program
The SULS will host its annual Black History Program Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 1:30 PM. Students in elementary, middle and high school have worked hard under the leadership of Ms. Gaile White to put together a great program. The school will follow an Activity Bell Schedule.
Championship Celebration
Congratulations to the SULS Boys Basketball Team. On Saturday, March 05, 2022 they beat Calvery Baptist to clinch the LHSAA Division IV Boys State Championship. Click Here for the article! This is the first Boys State Championship since 2005. This has been a banner year for many of our athletic programs. Football, Boys & Girls Basketball, and 5th & 8th Grade Basketball. More information is forthcoming as it relates to a celebration of our students.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conference day is March 18, 2022; therefore, students will not report to school. Pre-K through 12th grade teachers will send out a sign up form for parents to schedule conference times. More information is forthcoming.
Junior: Ring/Pinning Ceremony
The annual Ring & Pinning Ceremony for our Juniors will be held on March 24, 2022, at 10:00 am. Students will receive their rings that were purchased from Herff Jones. If you have purchased a ring from another company please bring your ring to Ms. Crystal Franklin on the morning of the ceremony.
We are asking that Junior students have a representative to pin them on the day of the ceremony. When your child’s name is called, the parent (guardian/representative) will pin the school’s pin onto the lapel of the student. This moment begins the Junior’s transition into their Senior year. Photos will be taken by Miles Photography.
Junior Dues
It’s that time of year. As we start getting back to normal, we would like to start the process of providing activities that are memorable for our students. As you start the process of exiting high school, Jr.’s and Sr.’s are asked to pay yearly fees. Junior fees cover the annual pinning/ring ceremony as well as prom.

The Junior fee is $125.00. Each student will be allowed one additional guest for prom (2 total). In order for us to order these items and make preparations in a timely fashion, we are asking that all junior fees ($125.00) be paid as soon as possible.
Junior Fees can be paid to Coach Q during lunch or before or after school. If you cannot reach Coach Q, it’s okay to leave your payment with Ms. Cupil in the front office. Honors Program
We will be celebrating those students who made the honor roll for the 2nd grading period Monday, March 14, 2022. The elementary program will begin at 9 AM, and the program for middle and high school students begins at 10:30 AM. We are still asking parents for donations, gift cards, bikes, scooters, hoverboards, headphones, etc. for the honorees. Please send all gifts to the front office by March 11, 2022.
Region III Louisiana Bar Association High School Mock Trial Competition
The Region III Louisiana State Bar Association High School Mock Trial Competition will be Friday, March 11, 2022. Students who will be participating in the competition are Chloe Boxley, Faith Alexander, Kendrick Smith, Fiona Selders, Quain Hilton Jr. and Angel Willis. The competition will start at 8:00 a.m. and will last the entire day at the 19th Judicial District Courthouse in Baton Rouge.

OCHSNER STAR SUMMER SCHOLARS PROGRAM
STAR is a 4-week summer program, held Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, which focuses primarily on scientific research, practical medicine, and leadership development. The knowledge and skills students acquire in this program will provide them with a solid foundation on which to build an advanced education and successful future in science, medicine, and other aspects of healthcare.
