Welcome, Assistant Principal Mrs. Sarah Gleason Chidlow to the Lab School Family

We are thrilled to announce that Mrs. Sarah Gleason Chidlow has been selected as the new Assistant Principal at Southern University Laboratory School! With over 17 years of experience in education, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Southern University, she has a deep commitment to academic excellence.

Mrs. Chidlow brings a powerful blend of classroom experience and administrative expertise to her new role, having served SULS as a 5th grade teacher, Director of Summer Programming, mentor to student teachers, and instructional leader across content areas. She has worked closely with our Director of Accountability and former Director of Literacy to support daily operations at the elementary level and has led initiatives in curriculum development and teacher training. Her work with the Louisiana Department of Education on the FLAME math fluency project underscores her dedication to advancing learning at all levels.

As Assistant Principal, Mrs. Chidlow will support both elementary and middle school students, helping ensure a consistent, student-centered learning environment that prioritizes academic growth, emotional well-being, and strong family-school partnerships.

While we will truly miss her in the 5th grade classroom, we are excited about the expanded impact she will have on our entire school community. Mrs. Chidlow will continue to support the 5th grade class as we work to find a full-time replacement, ensuring a smooth transition for students and families.
